Sammy has a RATest!
A message from Mr Carter Week 5 Term 4 2021.
THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Galatians 5:22,23
PEACE
Have a listen to what Douglas says this week about PEACE.
What have you learnt about PEACE ?
How important is it to have PEACE and to show PEACE towards others?
JOY
Many of us may be feeling JOY about coming back to school. We're so exciting and happy about returning to school. We get to see our teacher, we get to play and work with our friends.
Some of us might be a little worried about coming back to school - and that's OK. Joy does not mean being happy all the time. The joy that the Bible talks about is the joy we have from knowing God.
Real Joy comes from knowing God, trusting in Him, knowing that He is always with us and that we have the hope of eternal life.
Have a listen to what Douglas says about JOY.
Have a listen to Douglas speak about LOVE and how we can show love towards others.
What have you learnt about God's love for us?
How can you show God's love to others around you?
What are you thankful for?
Let's make a poster or write a prayer to thank God. Here's a few things to get you thinking and thanking!
Thankful for what we have learnt.
Thankful for being courageous and persevering.
Thankful for family.
Thankful for teachers and friends.
Thankful for technology.
Thankful for God's love, for Jesus, for hope, for His Spirit.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
How can you be courageous this week?
Trust in God, He is with you.
Have the courage to say no to sin and temptation, be courageous to make good choices for you and your family.
Have courage to say sorry, to own up when you have done something wrong. Have courage to ask for forgiveness.
Have courage to take risks in your learning and learn from mistakes. This is sometimes when we learn the most, it’s hard but true.
Accept your challenges and have courage to overcome them, don’t give up, persevere.
Mr Carter talks with Sammy about having patience.
How can you be patient today?
Be patient with other people.
Be patient for things to happen.
Be patient for your turn to speak on zoom.
Be patient waiting for your turn or waiting for a time when you win a game.
Be patient with your school work and do it well and neatly.
Be patient when things go wrong.
Be patient when something is difficult.
Be patient for things to go back to normal and we can come back to school.
Ephesians 4:2 “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”
Watch to see who our special guest is this week!
How can you be generous?
With your time. How can you give some time to your family, friends, cousins, grandparents?
With your gifts and abilities. How can you use your gifts and abilities to serve those around you?
With your treasures. How can you share your belongings with others?
When you do things, do not let selfishness or pride be your guide. Be humble and give more honour to others than to yourselves. Do not be interested only in your own life, but be interested in the lives of others. Philippians 2:3,4
I'd love to hear how you have shown kindness to someone this week. Email me at headofjunior@shirechristian.nsw.edu.au
This week we are thinking about how we can show kindness to others. Has someone shown kindness to you recently? You feel loved and cared for when someone shows you kindness don't you.
Let's show kindness and be a blessing to someone else this week.
Random Acts of Kindness - Here's some ideas...
Do you like baking? Why not bake a cake or muffins for a neighbour or your grandparents.
Write on a card and post it to a friend or neighbour to let them know you're thinking of them.
Phone or facetime a friend or relative.
Do a job for mum or dad. Show kindness to your brother or sister.
Draw some happy, colourful pictures with chalk on the footpath. Write a Bible verse.
When you go for a walk, pick up any rubbish you see. (Use gloves)
Clean up your room and donate unwanted toys to a 2nd hand shop.
Jesus told the story of The Good Samaritan to explain what 'love your neighbour' means.
You can read the story in Luke 10:25 - 37 or watch this video.
RESILIENCE is the ability to BOUNCE BACK from challenges and difficulties.
It is our ability to cope with unexpected challenges and changes, when things don’t go as planned.
Here's 3 thoughts to help us to be resilient...
Remember God loves you, He created you, You are special to Him.
Know your strengths, abilities and gifts.
Build healthy and trustworthy relationships.
"It is good to STOP and look around and see the good things in our lives.
That helps us to get our head in the right place, then we can keep going."
Have a listen to the Olympic value this week - TEAMWORK
There is a special visitor in this week's video.
Keep watching.... Who is it?
THINK - CONSIDER - How can you be an encouraging TEAM MEMBER this week? How can you support your family, your class, your friends? What could you say to spur them on towards love and good deeds?
Hebrews 10:24
We all face challenges, some are big, some are small. Overcoming the challenges that we face helps us to learn, improve, grow and succeed.
Here are my tips for overcoming challenges...
Trust in God
Talk to God - ask Him for help
Turn to His Word - read the Bible
Ask someone to help you and let them help you
Take a break, reset, try again
Focus on the goal, focus on one thing at a time.
Don’t give up, persevere, keep going!
Why not choose one of these or you may have another strategy that works for you.
Make a poster and hang it up somewhere nearby to encourage you.
You could email me your poster at headofjunior@shirechristian.nsw.edu.au
I'd love to see what you have created.
What should our attitude be?
How should we think and act towards others?
READ Philippians 2:2-5. What do these verses say about what our attitude should be?
One way that we can have a POSITIVE Attitude is to think of things that we can be thankful for.
**Draw or write a list of things that you are thankful for and share this with your family. Why not give thanks to GOD for these things?!
Activities - Now, why not decorate your study, bedroom or house with these ideas.
Look up these verses. 1 Corinthians 9:24 - 27 or Hebrews 12:1-3. Choose 1 verse. Make a colourful Poster to put up in your house.
How many phrases can you think of to encourage your family to 'keep going?' 'You can do it! 'Don't give up' 'Have patience'
Write a couple on some Post It Notes and put them around the house to encourage each other.
