South Sioux City High School is thrilled to announce a groundbreaking transformation in its educational approach with the introduction of an Academy model, starting the 2024-2025 academic year. The inaugural phase will kick off with the Freshman Academy, accompanied by an exciting new course, Freshman Seminar.

The Freshman Seminar is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the upper academies, which will include the Academy of Business and Programming, the Academy of Engineering and Construction, and the Academy of Public and Human Services.

As part of this visionary shift, South Sioux City High School aims to foster stronger connections with the local business community. By establishing robust partnerships, students will have the opportunity to gain real-world insights and experiences, ensuring they are well-equipped with practical skills for their future endeavors.

THE OVERVIEW

Career Academies and Pathways are industry-specific, career focused tracks within high schools that offer small learning communities, college-prep curricula and local partnerships with employers and institutions of higher education. In South Sioux City, these programs have been branded as The Academies of South Sioux City High School.

Career-connected learning transforms the traditional high school model to prepare all students for careers by linking academic subjects to career themes. Students and teachers use experiential learning to make lessons come alive. Different pathways designed and supported by community partners are created to introduce students to a variety of college and career options.
