The following are some ideas that will provide opportunities for your children to practice and strengthen their social and emotional skills:
Play board games
Play card games
Put together puzzles
Make puppets and make up social games with them
Build with blocks, legos or other building toys with siblings (practice sharing, taking turns, listening, working together)
Imagination games
Kindness Scavenger Hunt (checklist-help with chores, play a game, give a family member a hug, draw a picture and mail it to someone, etc.)
Make a mindful breathing wand
Make a family “bucket” and find ways to fill it daily (whether it be actions or words)
Read books dealing with emotions
Hide the thimble (or a game piece) - everyone closes their eyes while someone hides the item in the room everyone is in. Then everyone opens their eyes and the search begins. Whoever finds it is the one who hides it next.
