The Early Start Program of San Ramon provides DHH (deaf-hard of hearing) services which includes a home
visit component as well as small group specialized instruction (specifically for DHH students) when the child is closer to 2 years old.
In addition to the parent coaching provided in the above services, there is a monthly parent group that addresses hearing loss and
how it will impact your child.
The Early Start Program staff includes a DHH teacher, Special EducationTeacher, Speech Language Pathologist and an Occupational
Therapist and/or Physical Therapist if the child has needs in these areas.
The goal is to monitor the child’s global development with emphasis on listening skills,
receptive and expressive language development and ongoing monitoring of the child’s hearing
loss. Parent education is a key component in all aspects of the program as the goal is to build parent capacity. Parents are involved
in the classes, so that the same activities can be practiced at home.
