Click HERE to see how to set up the Warmup portion of the composition notebook. You do not need to use a new page for each day's Warm-up Slip. You can just draw a line with a highlighter underneath where your old warmup (or notes) ends and then continue on from there.
Click HERE to see how to set up the Notes portion of the composition notebook. You do not need to use a new page for each day's Notes. You can just draw a line with a highlighter underneath where your old warm-up (or notes) ends and then continue on from there. You can take notes in any "format" you want - bullets, pictures, outline, etc. BUT you must include the required elements when finished. You must include a title, three additional colors, and your "KCQ" boxes. Click the link above for more information. Help in writing different level questions HERE
Click HERE to see a generic rubric for your composition notebook. This is only to give you a general idea of the main categories to think about. The actual grading sheet and points may be different depending on what chapter we are on, when in the grading period we are, etc. The general 0-3 pattern in the rubric will be the best way to figure out the quality of your work. Warm-ups may be graded either daily in class, at the end of the class period, end of the week, end of the chapter, or after the test. It just depends on how much time we have that day/week/month. Be prepared for them to be graded during class each day!
You cannot do your homework in the composition notebook because you need to turn the homework in as part of your Rainbow Packet! It would also take up way too much space, you would need tons of composition notebooks! However, you can use your composition notebook for extra practice, or as a place to write down questions you want to ask me, etc. if you would like! Just make sure you are clear with what it is so I know what I am looking at when I grade your composition notebook. Also realize if you use it for other things you may run out of space and need a second one!
