I have been teaching elementary students since 1993. Prior to that, I taught preschool while working on my Bachelor's degree at San Jose State University. Once I earned my CA teaching credential, also at SJSU, I began teaching second grade. Throughout my numerous years in education, I have taught second, third, fourth and fifth grades, as well as a number of combo classes. I have been teaching at Live Oak since we opened in 2007.
The summer after teaching an entire year virtually, I needed a distraction as well as a way to plan for the return to the classroom. I began writing my thoughts and plans, and it turned into a book! I published it a few years ago. This past summer, I published my third novel. I have ideas for a few more student stories from the same classroom in my three two books, and and halfway done with book three, started this summer.
My daughter is a Paramedic Firefighter for the city of Berkeley. Recently she completed a two year search and rescue program, and was paired with a yellow lab named Wheeler. On the first day of school, they passed their certification, and are ready for a disaster. Which we all hope won't happen! She is currently married, and her husband is working on his Paramedic internship.
My son graduated from Point Loma University in San Diego last May, with a degree in Business Management, minor in Finance. He is currently working at the corporate office for Grocery Outlet as a grocery inventory planner. I don't know what this means, but it involves a lof of spreadsheets.
Our family has lived in San Ramon since 2005, and we have enjoyed the experience greatly. My husband owns a construction company based in Livermore, but he travels all over the bay area. Our son is saving up to move to San Francisco, so it's the three of us, our two cats, and our grand-dog, Stella, occasionally occupying our home. (Wheeler gets to go to work with his mom).
I am looking forward to getting to know your children better, and facilitating their growth and learning this year. If you ever need anything, please don't hesitate to ask!
