Read all information below before filling out the Google Form! Once you have read all the information and you are sure you want to join, please fill out the Google Form by clicking on the image to the left. Sign ups are due by the end of the day (midnight) Friday, December 5th.
By signing up you are agreeing to read your assigned books in their entirety and to participate in the final Battle of the Books in person on Wednesday, April 1st! You are also in charge of finding your assigned books, whether you pick them up from the library or buy them.

Students will be assigned to a group consisting of 5 or 6 students from grades 3-5. Once students are assigned to a group, they will then be assigned the 5 - 7 books that they are responsible for reading for their group. If your child wants to read more than their assigned books they are more than welcome to. In fact, it's encouraged! After students are assigned a group and their books, they will then prepare for the Battle.
On the day of the Battle, different teams will play against each other to see who can answer more questions correctly. Each team will have AT LEAST two chances to battle against another team. Winners will move forward in a bracket style tournament until the top two or three teams are invited to a "Grand Battle." Watch the video to learn more!

When joining Battle of the Books you will...
Read your assigned books. Students are assigned to read about 5 to 7 books. If you're curious to see what books you will read, check out this year's book list on the next tab!
Jot down your thoughts and notes on paper or digital document that you can share with your group partners. This will help prepare you to answer questions on your book during the Battle in March! However, you will NOT be allowed to use notes during the battle.
Participate in the Battle of the Books event in person on Wednesday, April 1st. During this battle you and your group will work together to answer questions faster than a competing group. Each winning group will then battle another winning group until the final winner is chosen!

Schedule:
Have an in person meeting with your Battle of the Books group on Wednesday, December 10th from 12:50 - 1:15 in the library. This is when you will be assigned your book club group and choose the books you will read for your group.
Have your final Battle on Wednesday, April 1st. Time of event depends on how well each group does. Groups will be sent home periodically as they battle and the winner of each bracket stays till the final battle. Event will start at 1 and the final battle usually ends around 2:30!

Battle of the Books is perfect for those of you who love to read and want to interact with others from different classes and grades! There will be multiple groups. Encourage your friends to join Battle of the Books with you!

All participants will read their assigned books on their own. You are welcome to meet up with other members in your group to discuss your books or prep for the final Battle in April, but you are not required to meet up!

The list of books changes every year and all books are highly regarded in the reading community.
You get to read and have fun with friends from different classes and grades.
You get to hopefully read new books that you have not read before.
