Student book club meets during student support on the 2nd and 4th Thursday each month.
We choose a format at the beginning of each school year. For the 25-26 year, we are taking a thematic approach. Each month is a different theme, and students choose a book that meets that theme. Different books, same ideas!
Retellings: The books in this theme retell classic stories, fairy tales, myths and more!
Fantasy! Whether classic or modern, fantasy novels encompass a wide range of topics and interests, but typically have elements of magic, a supernatural setting, and provide an escape from the real world. However, they can also be genre bending, like Babel by RF Kuang that blends historical fiction and fantasty or Stephen King's Dark Tower series that blends fantasy with westerns. Fantasy can also be trend-setting, like the rise of the romantasy movement popularized by Sarah J. Maas or Rebecca Yarros. Whatever your style, this month choose a fantasy book that you want to experience for the first time or re-read to share with the group!
