World History

6th graders will be studying the people and events of the major Western and non-Western ancient civilizations. We will begin by exploring the Planet Earth and the development of world civilizations beginning with Mesopotamia, Egypt, Kush, the Near and Far East civilizations and continuing to Greece and Rome; look at the development and impact of Middle ages, the Renaissance, and the Age of Exploration; introduced to a unit of study about Anne Frank, a Jewish girl who became a teenager during the World War II; and learn the 6 Essential Elements of geography and how to read maps by utilizing map skills.
