The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation’s Education Program has a long-standing commitment to OER and believes that they can be transformational in reducing costs and improving outcomes in postsecondary education. With generous support from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the Southern Regional Education Board will support seven postsecondary institutions in the South to implement OER initiatives that enhance educational access, affordability and student success. These grants will focus on building institutional capacity, integrating OER into core curricula and developing scalable models that can be replicated across other campuses.

In addition to receiving $10,000 to put towards the cost of implementing OER initiatives, SREB selected institutions will be provided with support to ensure effective implementation and advancement of OER initiatives. SREB will support each grantee in developing their own technical support plan to address challenges and optimize the integration of Open Educational Resources (OER). All grantees will be included in a year-long virtual community of practice and have access to an online central repository for resources, including tool kits, recorded webinars, promising practices and lessons learned.
