The after-school program at Davidson Middle School is designed to provide a warm and supportive environment where students are encouraged to embrace their background and talents, as well as challenged to develop critical academic and socio-emotional skills. Students are encouraged by staff to voice their opinion and take lead in daily activities and larger events.
We provide key access for students to participate in a variety of enrichment activities we organize with our community partners such as MakersTech, National Academy of Athletics, SCORES Soccer, ArtWorks, Trips4Kids Biking, and Kids Cooking for Life.
Every student in our program has the opportunity to engage in an enrichment activity offered by our community partner and by our program instructors. All instructors offer clubs on Wednesdays based on their interests and talents they decide to share with students.
Bay Area Community Resources works directly with San Rafael City Schools to provide both the after-school program and the summer program.
Davidson Extended Learning is committed to hosting a variety of social and cultural events that welcome, educate, challenge, and entertain students. This includes class vs. class competitions such as tournaments, that reward winners with class prizes and ownership of the program trophy.
We provide volunteer opportunities for students to get involved with planning, organizing, and hosting events as well as leadership opportunities for students to perform or display some work of art, project, or essay.
New Traditions?
Our newcomer class (6th-8th), led by Ms. Kati, celebrated Día de Los Muertos by building a small class altar, having a potluck, some warm & fuzzies discussions, as well as watching Coco together. This was a first for many students, who were not familiar with the tradition. They enjoyed getting their favorite foods and snacks together and learning about a new holiday that some expressed they'd be celebrating in coming years.
Gracias por venir y celebrar Halloween at DXL!
We are very proud of all our student actors who haunted the hallway on Friday, October 28th in order to entertain and thrill their fellow students. When students weren't shaking in their boots, you could find them making slime, painting pumpkins, icing ghoulie cookies, taking photos at our photo booth, voting in the art contest, or putting together the 1000 piece Halloween puzzle!
Even Principal Stachon, Assistant Principals Ms. Kernan and Mr. Miller walked through our scary hallway!

It was the perfect day in Bodega Bay for instructors to learn, relax, connect, and deepen their understanding of each other and best practices for the after-school program.
The itinerary included competitive team based games including tug of war, spike ball, potato sack races, and the three legged race.
The team also took some time to reflect on the nature around them and use watercolored paints to create a natural landscape. (Visit the office to see their beautiful works!)
