What is a Political Party?
A political party is a group of persons who seek to control government by winning elections and holding office. Parties unite around a shared ideology, a set of beliefs about how society should be run, found in its Party Platform.
What do political parties do?
Nominate Candidates and Run Campaigns —Recruit, choose, present candidates for public office, and campaign.
Inform the Public— define issues and help citizens learn about the issues, form opinions, and consider proposed solutions.
Coordinate Policy Making —Members of government act according to their partisanship, or firm allegiance to a party to implement their policy solutions.
Checking the Power of the Governing Party —Parties that are out of power keep a close eye on the actions of the party in power for a blunder to use against them in the next election.
Balancing Competing Interests – promoting unity among competing factions towards the common goals of the party.

Vice President Harris is a fighter for the people. From her days as a prosecutor to her service as Vice President, she has defended the rights of Americans by standing up to predators, scammers, and powerful interests. She has been fearless in taking on anyone who threatens our rights and freedoms.
As a prosecutor, she put murderers and abusers behind bars, standing up for women and children. As California Attorney General, she cracked down on transnational gangs trafficking drugs and guns across the border to make communities safer. She also took on the big banks that committed mortgage fraud, winning back billions in relief for homeowners. As a Senator and Vice President, she took on the big drug companies to cap the cost of insulin for seniors and leads the fight to restore reproductive freedom. She has also advanced America’s interests on the world stage, including by taking on Russian leader Vladimir Putin and standing with NATO.
As president, she would make strengthening the middle class a defining goal of her presidency. She will confront price gouging, work to lower costs, and expand opportunity so that every American has the chance to not just get by, but get ahead. And she will continue fighting to restore our freedoms, from the right to breathe clean air and drink clean water, to the freedom to be safe from gun violence.

I left behind my former life because I could not sit by and watch career politicians continue bleeding this country dry and allow other nations to take advantage of us on trade, borders, foreign policy, and national defense. As President, I took on every powerful special interest, fixing globalist trade deals, ending foreign wars, securing the border, and standing up to Big Pharma and China. Together, we put America First and returned power to the American People.
The corrupt government cartel is once again destroying our country. We are a nation that has declared war on hard-working Americans. We are a nation where free speech is no longer allowed, crime is rampant like never before, terrorists are invading our southern border, and the economy is in a recession. We are a nation that is hostile to liberty, freedom, and faith.
Our populist movement to Make America Great Again is the only force on earth that will lead our country back to safety, prosperity, and peace. I will unleash American energy, renew the Trump tax cuts, repeal stifling government regulations and stop wasteful spending.
Together, we created the greatest American economy in history and together we will do it again. We will create unprecedented opportunities for all Americans through explosive economic growth.
We can Make America Great Again by tackling lawlessness head-on, stopping the endless flow of illegal immigrants across our southern border, and reversing inflation by restoring America's prosperity.

The political system is broken. The two Wall Street parties are bought and paid for. Both are abandoning working people, neglecting housing, healthcare and education, worsening the climate crisis and squandering trillions on the endless war machine.
Over 60% of us now say the two-party system has failed and we need a party that serves the people. I’m running to offer that choice: a pro-worker, anti-war, climate action campaign on the ballot nationwide.
As a people-powered campaign, we reject the corrupting money from corporations, super PACs, billionaires and special interests. So we have the liberty to truly fight for an economy that works for working people, with a $25 per hour minimum wage, universal healthcare through Medicare for All, national rent control, the right to affordable housing, free public higher education, a bailout for student and medical debt; an end to mass incarceration and police violence; reparations for descendants of enslaved people, and more.
We can create a Green New Deal with millions of jobs to fight climate collapse and protect Mother Earth.
We can end endless war and launch a foreign policy based on diplomacy and international law.
We can end the genocide in Palestine through a weapons boycott and compliance with the International Court of Justice.
We can revive our democracy and ensure our rights, freedoms, and justice for all.
We have the power and we can use it in 2024 to start building an America and a world that works for all of us!

As I visited all 50 states over the past 18 months with my amazing VP nominee, Mike Ter Maat, I heard from voters who doubt they can chase their dreams. I aspire to change that mindset.
Inflation is robbing us of our potential. Government overspending and reckless money printing fuels skyrocketing costs.
By slashing spending and balancing the budget, we can crush inflation and strengthen the economy, allowing people to afford groceries and housing, and even start their own small businesses.
Let’s remove government obstacles and help our nation thrive again.
I am anti-war to the core. I will end wars and bring the troops home. We must end drone strikes and military interventions while championing free trade and international goodwill.
I will end the Justice Department’s abuses and pardon all individuals imprisoned for victimless crimes, starting with Edward Snowden and Ross Ulbricht.
Our broken criminal justice system needs a significant overhaul. We must dismantle the prison-industrial complex, end the failed War on Drugs, and eliminate qualified immunity for police.
I am running for president on the Libertarian message that if you’re not harming anyone: Your life should be your life, your body should be your body, your property should be your property, and your business should be your business. It shouldn't be mine, and it shouldn’t be the government’s.

The genocidal assault on the Palestinian people in Gaza is being armed and supported by Democratic and Republican leaders alike. My campaign has been in the streets with millions demanding a ceasefire an end to U.S. arming of Israel and a "Free Palestine!"
Today, we are experiencing many crises - climate catastrophe, massive job losses, homelessness, huge health costs, threat of war against China - and more. The capitalist-controlled government has no answers to these crises, and instead acts a servant of the capitalist corporations.
The working class is the vast majority. We, not the billionaires, make society run - without us nothing moves. Yet we are unrepresented - there are virtually no workers in government at any level. The majority of people are also living paycheck to paycheck, and the cost of everything has skyrocketed. The five richest men in the U.S. have as much wealth as the bottom 50% - 170 million people. They didn't "earn" that wealth, they stole it! Capitalism cannot be reformed. It is a system driven by maximizing profit regardless of cost to humanity. It promotes racism, sexism, homophobia and Islamophobia to keep us divided.
We need a new system. a socialist system, where the working class holds power and uses it to meet the needs of the people in a sustainable way.
My campaign is part of the growing movement for real change. Join us! Vote YES on Prop 6 – end prison slavery in California! Register and vote Peace and Freedom Party! Vote Socialist 2024!

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is running for president as an independent to end the corrupt merger of big corporations and government and to fix the broken two-party system. To heal our crippling partisan divide, Kennedy proposes a “unity government” in which voices from all parties are represented.
As president, Kennedy will end costly foreign wars and reinvest the trillions saved here at home to restore the middle class. He has plans to: 1) redirect 20% of government contracts away from corporations (that offshore our economy) into small businesses, creating millions of jobs; 2) offer a new GI Bill to anyone willing to serve their community in our domestic Peace Corps, providing volunteers with assets to pay their way through college, put a down payment on a home, or start a business; 3) assist homebuyers with government-guaranteed 3% mortgages; and 4) cap childcare at 10% of income to make parenthood affordable for Americans.
Kennedy has a robust plan to secure the southern border and end the humanitarian and national security crisis there, which is crippling towns and cities in Arizona and across the U.S.
He will address the epidemic of drug addiction with innovative solutions that promote real recovery. He will end the epidemic of chronic illness in our country, especially among our children.
Mr. Kennedy would like to thank the new leadership of the American Independent Party of California for placing his name on the ballot.

United States Representative
Adam Schiff has always taken on the toughest fights to get things done. He's running for the U.S. Senate to deliver results for Californians: making housing more affordable, lowering costs, fighting climate change, protecting abortion access, and building an economy that works for everyone. From the courtroom to Congress, Adam took on the biggest bullies—drug companies, polluters, and drug cartels—and won. He's passed dozens of laws to lower prescription drug costs, expand public transit, create jobs, get people off the street, bring up–to–date textbooks to our schools, build the earthquake early warning system, and establish California's Patients Bill of Rights. And when our democracy was under assault by a dangerous president, Adam investigated, impeached and held him accountable for inciting an insurrection. Adam will work with Democrats, Republicans, and Independents to make it affordable to raise a family in California again. His Affordability Agenda calls for universal health care and childcare, and increased investments in Social Security. He'll take on big developers and foreign investors driving up housing costs, and large corporations that are gouging consumers while raking in billions. Adam grew up in the Bay Area, working summers in his dad's lumber yard and as a seasonal firefighter. After law school, he settled in Southern California, and met the love of his life, Eve—yes, they are Adam and Eve! They have been married for 29 years and have two wonderful kids. Over 50 years ago, I came to California for the first time. For the next 20 years, I played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres in front of millions of fans watching on TV and cheering in the stands. At that time, California was the heartbeat of America, now it's just a murmur. Years of bad policies have led to the highest cost of living in the country, chaos on the Southern Border, rising violent crime, out–of–control homelessness, and failing schools. Politicians have let all Californians down. When I'm your Senator, we will tackle homelessness by getting serious about mental health, drug addiction treatment, and the cost of housing. We will secure the border, fight crime, enforce our laws, and punish criminals. We will once again have the best schools in the country and provide our children with a first–class education. We will create good jobs, support small businessowners, and bring down the cost of living so every dollar goes farther for your family. By working together, we will solve our problems with common–sense solutions, and not the same old tired politics. It's time for political courage and we deserve leaders who will represent your interests, not their own. California allowed me to live my dream of playing in the Major Leagues, and you deserve to live yours. I hope to earn your support, so we can work together and restore the quality of life and opportunities we all deserve.

U.S. Representative
I was born, grew up, and still live in our district. It is my honor to represent our district in Congress. I worked to enact an historic investment in our nation’s infrastructure which has improved our roads, highways, bridges, airports, ports, and broadband. As chairman of the House Ways and Means Select Revenues Subcommittee, I wrote legislation that provided the largest investment to combat climate change ever signed into law. I voted for legislation that is cutting prescription drug costs and health care premiums and spurring an historic investment in American manufacturing and creating jobs. Since the tragic fires in our district, I passed legislation to provide relief for fire survivors, offset costs to local and state governments, deliver assistance for agricultural producers, and incentivize the building of 1,200 affordable housing units in our district. I worked to enact the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the most impactful gun violence prevention law to be enacted in nearly 30 years. I’m working to preserve Social Security, Medicare, and veterans’ benefits, pass comprehensive immigration reform, strengthen our national security and protect women’s reproductive rights. I have helped constituents recoup tens of millions of dollars from federal agencies and secured more than $155 million to raise Highway 37 to combat future flooding and improve transportation. Together, we can ensure our district remains the best place to live, start a business, raise a family, and retire with dignity. I would be honored to have your support. Small Business Owner
I am a life-long California resident, grew up on a family farm, and have been married to Shelley for 51 years. We have three children. I served on the Davis School Board and have been President of the Yolo County School Boards Association, the Yolo County Taxpayers Association, and the Professional Soil Scientists Association of California. I view government financial responsibility, law enforcement, a good education, and support for families as essential to avoiding future problems. I have degrees in Engineering and in Soil and Water Science, worked for the U.S. Forest Service and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, and have returned to farm and ranch life. I am asking “Is this what you want?” Our national debt is $34 trillion (more than GDP, $100,000 per person, and passed to our children), nearly $2 trillion was borrowed last year, and $900 billion was spent on interest (more than for national defense). Let’s quit spending what we don’t have, while supporting national defense and protecting Social Security and Medicare that we have already paid for. Crime, food and fuel prices, inflation, and government constraints have increased. Our borders have been opened to illegal immigration. Health care is more complex and less transparent. And students lack basic skills to make up their own minds, while parents are prohibited from knowing what schools are doing. Is this what you want? Tax increases, more spending, open borders, and political correctness will not solve our problems. And, too often, government is contributing to problems. More information about issues, positions, and my background is available at www.MunnForCongress.com.

Northern California is my home - where I was born, and where my wife and I are raising our family. I love this place and its people, but it’s getting more difficult for all of us to get by. We both work hard - my wife is a nurse and I work on environmental policy - but like many, we’ve struggled to make it in the Golden State. Between the high cost of living, escalating cost of utilities, and skyrocketing rents, too many on the North Coast are being priced out of the communities we love. Whether it’s standing up to outside interests or responding to a local disaster, you deserve a representative who cares about our communities’ future and has a proven record of getting the job done. As your next Assemblymember I will deliver on what matters most to our communities: housing, fire insurance, access to healthcare, addressing homelessness, and preparing for the impacts of climate change. As Mayor, I balanced the budget, expanded access to affordable childcare, and launched a first-time home-buyers program for lowincome workers. Our City Council started mental health-based responses to homelessness and substance abuse emergency calls, and took thoughtful action on housing. After the Tubbs Fire devastated Santa Rosa, I led reconstruction efforts to bring our neighbors home - and we held PG&E accountable. Endorsed by Governor Gavin Newsom, Senator Alex Padilla, Congressmen Mike Thompson and Jared Huffman, Senate President Mike McGuire, Assemblymember Jim Wood, Sonoma County Supervisors Chris Coursey, James Gore, Susan Gorin, and Lynda Hopkins, 100+ current and former Mayors and Councilmembers, Professional Firefighters of Sonoma County, The Sierra Club, and the Sonoma County Democratic Party. I humbly ask for your vote.
I am running for the California State Assembly because I want to be the voice of common sense and change for voters who live in District 2. Just like you, I’m tired of paying some of the highest prices for gas, housing, food, and energy, coupled with higher crime rates and lower education standards for our children. Leadership needs to change. I believe individuals, groups, and agencies need to be held accountable for their actions. We need to reassess and evaluate what, why, and how our tax money is being spent, and need to stop spending money on programs that are not working. Having been elected to public office, both as a city councilman and as a school board member, I have learned how to focus on problems and solve them. I have lobbied in Washington D.C. and Sacramento on behalf of education, retirement, and wildfire policies. I am a retired Special Education teacher who has served as a union president and chair of the local service center for a five-county area. I currently serve as a trustee for Del Norte County Office of Education and Unified School District. I also serve as Director of Region 1 for County Office of Education representing Del Norte, Humboldt, Mendocino, and Lake counties and the California School Board Association legislative committee. We need to change the one party legislature, or we will continue to see higher prices, no accountability, substandard education, and higher crime rates. I ask that you join me in being the difference, and making the change a reality, by voting for me.

Incumbent California State Assemblymember
DAMON CONNOLLY It is my privilege to serve as your State Assemblymember, ensuring that an experienced local voice represents Marin and Sonoma counties in Sacramento. Endorsed by the Sierra Club, California Professional Firefighters, California Teachers Association, local Labor Unions, and Planned Parenthood Northern California Action Fund, I’m a principled progressive and consensus builder who gets things done. In just one term in office, I’ve delivered real results, successfully getting five bills signed into law that will keep body armor out of the hands of mass shooters, ensure addictive tobacco products are not sold to teenagers, protect renters living in mobile home parks, reduce teen suicides, and cap the fees charged for residential solar projects. I also continue to build support for legislation to prevent toxic pesticide spraying along our highways. On top of these legislative wins, I also secured $5 million in state funding for projects throughout the North Bay for parks, firefighting equipment, affordable housing, and science education. I have been fighting for our communities for 18 years, including service as a Marin County Supervisor, Vice-Mayor of San Rafael, School Board President, California Deputy Attorney General and now, as your State Assemblymember and local voice in Sacramento. My values are North Bay values, forged by living here for more than 25 years. As your State Assemblymember, I will continue to fight for our priorities in Sacramento: wildfire prevention and home insurance, clean energy, environmental protection, protecting women’s healthcare, equal rights, and more. I hope to earn your vote to continue this important work together.

Educator
Occupation: Retired Educator / Sr. Academic Advisor
I am excited to express my interest in serving as the District 3 Board of Trustees representative for Santa Rosa Junior College. Having been a resident of Sonoma County for 30 years, I have raised three daughters here who pursued higher education across CSU, UC, and private colleges. In my career at Sonoma State University, I recruited and advised over 13,000 students, traveling extensively to demystify the CSU admissions process and connecting with each of California’s 113 community colleges. My role in the Educational Opportunity Program focused on supporting first-generation and historically low-income students through academic and financial advising. I have collaborated with county residents, community-based organizations, and faith-based organizations to eliminate barriers to higher education. I was able to support the CSU’s Graduation Initiative 2025 as the Coordinator of the Male Success Initiative (MSI). I currently serve on the Lime Foundation Board, promoting trades careers through the Next Gen Trades Academy. My extensive experience and deep understanding of our local educational landscape positions me to effectively support and advance our community’s educational goals. I am committed to advocating for accessible, quality higher education for all students at Santa Rosa Junior College.

As the current representative of our South Park and Roseland neighborhoods, I, Eddie Alvarez am committed to continue working towards producing long awaited transformations within our communities that address the historic neglect we have faced. Together we’ve raised awareness of the need to improve services and facilities. We’ve secured $7,000,000 so that Martin Luther King Park has the amenities that residents of South Park deserve. We boast new parks and creek renovations. We’ve secured funds for a new fire station, cultural center and a state-of-the-art library. Many projects have been completed; many more are underway. My first goal was for the people to be heard, “Hear us, don’t fear us”. Now, with improvements underway, and new voices in government supporting us, our goal is to finish what we started. I kindly ask for your support so that I may continue to advocate for a brighter tomorrow, a tomorrow that we’ve worked for and one that we deserve. I’m ready! Are you ready?

Santa Rosa needs steady, grounded, continuous leadership on the pressing issues facing our city today. Preparing for wildfires and emergency response, public safety, housing, homelessness, and climate change. These are issues that I will continue to advocate for on the Santa Rosa City Council. Serving as the Santa Rosa City Council, District 3 representative has been a great honor. I have extensive experience with balancing budgets and leveraging limited financial resources to get maxim outcomes. This is through my experience as a past business owner and California State PTA President. I’ll use my experience to find solutions to our city’s toughest financial challenges, helping businesses, balancing our budget, investing in our shared infrastructure, and preserving Santa Rosa’s amazing natural resources. As a Santa Rosa native, I understand the challenges that all of us face each day. The impacts from wildfires have directly affected my home and our district. The ability to afford housing keeps my oldest son and his family from living locally due to the ever-increasing housing and rent prices. I will continue to advocate for affordable housing and public safety. Endorsed by: Congressman Mike Thompson, CA State Senate President Pro Tempore Mike McGuire, Professional Firefighters of Sonoma County Local 1401, Santa Rosa Police Officers Association, North Bay Building Trades Council. Sonoma County Junior College District, Trustee
CAROLINE BAÑUELOS Occupation: SRJC Board of Trustee As a resident of Sonoma County for over 30 years, primarily in Santa Rosa, I have lived in District 5 for over 10 years. One of the most amazing aspects of the district is the people. From the West End Neighborhood to Luther Burbank and everything in between, the community is actively involved, vibrant and inspiring. My roots and commitment to service run deep in Santa Rosa. Serving on the S.R.J.C. Board as a Trustee, my work there along with my work as an employee at SSU assist in preparing our workforce for the future. As a former Santa Rosa Planning Commissioner, member of the Board of Community Services and a member of the first Community Advisory Board (CAB), I have developed an extensive understanding of how the city operates and how to work with many diverse stakeholders. My priorities for City Council include addressing the need for housing for lower middle-class residents as well as very low income, continuing to address homelessness, better communication, supporting the arts and historic neighborhoods, and building a healthy economy while protecting the environment. I would be honored to represent the residents of District 5. I respectfully ask for our vote. www.CarolineforSantaRosa.com
Pilot/Naval Officer
I am a public servant. At the US Naval Academy, I learned that I have a duty to get involved within my community and help solve tough problems. I am running for City Council to make life easier for the working people of Santa Rosa. I plan to achieve this by creating more affordable housing, incentivizing environmentally smart economic development in our downtown district, and implementing programs to give our underserved youth the best chance at success. I have pursued these priorities as Vice Chair of the Santa Rosa Housing Authority, but there is much more to be done. I am ready to do the hard work. I fight for US job protections on the Legislative Committee of my labor union, the Airline Pilots Association and, as a former Navy Fighter Pilot, I have successfully advocated for legislative solutions to the issues facing my fellow post-9/11 veterans. I earned a Master of Business Administration degree, so I comprehend the complex budget issues we face as a city. I am proud to have the support of US Congressman Mike Thompson, Sonoma County Supervisor Chris Coursey, and Santa Rosa Mayor Natalie Rogers. I hope that you will join me in moving our great city forward
