Parent Association Projects

The Real World Project is partially funded by our Parent Association and focuses on a student’s evolution of the MCHS Graduate Profile. Our goal is for each student to develop a strong understanding and mastery of the four characteristics: Powerful Producer, Universal Citizen, Masterful Communicator and Active Learner

The Real World Project connects students to the real world through three lenses:

SELF Through the use of the Project Wayfinder Purpose Toolkit, our students discover who they are, what’s important to them and their current purpose.

LIFE With the help of our partners and faculty, our students learn how to articulate their purpose and design their roadmap for the future.

COMMUNITY Once our students have a sense of themselves and their future plans, they turn their focus to the community, learning the importance of civic engagement and service learning.

I found that the program helped create a sense of community in the class, where students shared more about their personality, interests and passions. Wayfinder allowed the students to slow down and take time to think about their own life and choices. As a result, I believe they began to value their time and the choices they make more, thinking about why things matter to them, rather than going through the motions because that is what they are expected to do.
