About Me

Hello and welcome to STEM/ 8th grade ELA with Mr. Huffman!

My name is Mr. Huffman and this is now my 9th year teaching at St. Patrick. I have have two wonderful daughters and I really enjoy teaching in this wonderful St. Patrick community.

Many of you already know me, but for my new students, welcome to my class for the 2019-2020 school year. I am extremely excited to get back into the swing of things.

Moving on, the STEM program is used to incorporate all aspects of the scientific world. One thing I want to stress is that every professional who has taught the STEM program states that, “Failure is the key to success… Teacher’s need to allow for the students to figure out what went wrong and try something new… this is the key to activating the creativity of the students mind.” I have paraphrased this statement from several sources but it hits the nail on the head when it comes to a good STEM class. Students will be tasked to work with their partners in order to figure out how to solve a real world problem with the materials they are given. They will create a prototype and test it, modify it, and retest it in order to finally see success through their hard work and determination. Again the goal of this program is to see improvement from the initial failure or improvement from the initial success. This means that sometimes the project might not work to what they wanted due to time constraints but as long as they show determination and the willingness to solve the problem they are tasked, then they are considered successful in this program here at St Patrick's School.

Also, please make sure to check Powerschool. This will help with making sure there are no missing assignments. If you have any questions please contact me.

Please refer to the sub pages for each grade level's program overview.

Other parts of our curriculum will be discussed during our open house so please feel free to come and ask questions.

Again I hope to work with you on our common goal of helping to create a successful learning community. If you need to contact me anytime during the year feel free to email me at: nhuffman@stpatrickwadsworth.org and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Have a good day,

Mr. Huffman
