Crowell Public Library is now accepting applications for the Summer Reading Club Volunteer Program. SRC volunteers register children for SRC, listen to verbal book reports, update reading records, award prizes, act as SRC ambassadors to library patrons, and assist with craft preparations, various programs, and other duties as assigned. This volunteer opportunity is open to teens entering grades 9-12 in the fall. To apply, applicants need to complete the online application and submit the signed permission slip. Both forms are due Sunday, May 10.

Main criteria for consideration:
STEM field major
Have a financial need for college
Excel in math and science courses
Please turn in an application in an email with your name, a brief explanation of your plans for college including your intended field of study (as far as you know for now).
Then, in a paragraph or two, explain how this scholarship would specifically help you overcome financial barriers to achieving these aspirations. Finally, in approximately 300-500 words, respond to the following prompt:
Describe a meaningful project you've completed, what you learned from it, and how this experience shapes your future goals in your field of study.

Prom 2026!
Enjoy an evening of fun and dancing in the City of Lights at this year's Prom on Saturday, May 9 from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm at the Wallis Annenberg Building (3737 S Figueroa St, Los Angeles). This year's event features a buffet dinner and dessert, photobooths, and caricature artists.
Tickets for juniors and seniors and their guests are on sale during lunch at the Student Bank from Monday, April 13 through Tuesday, May 5. Buy your tickets early for the best prices. Ooter Guest Forms are available in the front office and must be turned in before 4:00 pm on Monday May 6. Please read the Dance Rules (https://bit.ly/sphsprom26rules) for more information.
Paws Across Borders focuses on stray dog and cat help. We have connected with the Pasadena Humane Society and have been offered an amazing opportunity to help support the animals in need in our area. We are accepting 12.5oz CANNED dog food, as well as new/slightly used large towels. All items can be dropped off in room 125 on EVEN DAYS.

About the Program
The award-winning CalArts Community Arts Partnership (CAP) in partnership with Mendez High School invites LA County High School students to register for CAPSA: Creative Labs – an in-person free Summer Arts Program.
From music production to digital photography to film and animation, students are invited to explore, interact, and play with disciplines taught at CalArts at CAPSA: Creative Labs. This FREE four-week summer interdisciplinary arts program is designed for high schoolers, featuring classes led by CalArts’ artist educators.
The program is a partnership between CalArts CAP and Mendez High School. It is hosted at Mendez HS from July 6 to July 31, Monday through Friday, from 10 am to 2 pm, with lunch provided daily. A final culminating event will be held on Saturday, August 1st. For questions, please contact us at capsa@calarts.edu
