Students who receive less than a 2.0 will not be able to participate in extra-curricular activities like athletics. In order to be scholastically eligible, according to the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), students must achieve an unweighted 2.0 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale, in enrolled courses at the conclusion of the previous grading period. Education Code 35160.5 states that for a student to continue to participate in extracurricular activities, they must have satisfactory educational progress in the previous grading period which is defined as achieving a minimum 2.0 grade point average for that grading period.
