Welcome!
Student Career Planning Guide
Dear Students and Parents,
Welcome to the 2025-2026 scheduling process! This guide is designed to assist both students and parents in navigating the course request submission via the Home Access Center (HAC). Here, you will find valuable information about the programs and courses offered by Suffolk Public Schools (SPS), along with step-by-step guidance to help you through the scheduling process.
At SPS, we are committed to providing every student with access to a high-quality educational curriculum. Our vision is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to thrive as contributing members of society, whether at the local, national, or global level. We hope this planning guide will inspire students and families to explore the wide array of courses and programs available in our middle and high schools.
The Profile of a Virginia Graduate, established by the Virginia Board of Education, outlines the essential skills students should develop throughout their K-12 education to be "life-ready." These skills include critical thinking, creative thinking, collaboration, communication, and citizenship. According to the Regulations Establishing Standards for Accrediting Public Schools in Virginia (SOA), every middle and high school student must have a personalized learning plan and course of study that align with their academic and career goals. It is crucial for students and parents to work closely with counselors, teachers, and administrators to create an Academic and Career Plan. This plan should tailor the educational experience to each student’s individual goals and interests, preparing them for success in our complex society.
As a united team, we are dedicated to delivering exceptional programs and courses that help all students develop the life skills outlined in the Profile of a Virginia Graduate and gain the academic knowledge necessary to become valuable citizens. The Suffolk Public Schools team is here to guide and support you every step of the way on this educational journey.
Warm regards,
Angela A. King
