Let's celebrate by looking at the art created at KSES!
Artist of the Month:

Congratulations to our Spring Artist of the Month, Gabe Faison! This is his painting of a community. It is painted with fluorescent colors that will glow in the dark with a blacklight. This piece of art, and the art of the entire school, was on display Tuesday, March 19 during the 3rd Annual Glow Art Show.

Kilby Shores Elementary collected 1155 pounds of plastic last school year!
That makes a total of 10,005 pounds over the last 15 years!
Our goal this year is 1,000 pounds!
If we collect 1,000 pounds, our school will earn a TREX bench!

Art @ Peanut Fest!
The theme for Peanut Fest this year was Mardi Gras, so the art from Kilby Shores reflects the colors of Green, Purple and Gold. Vincent van Gogh-inspired Sunflowers were the perfect choice. Our artists are Bryanna Bright, Ra'Niyah Bond, Jaiden Black, Jorden Black, Angie Pacheco, Talen Jernigan and Paisley McGee. Surrounding the entire board are mini-works of art by ALL the students! Peanut Fest is October 5-8. Check out all the artists from Suffolk. ENJOY!

Youth Art Month Event
The Youth Art Month Event was held Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Kings Fork Middle School. There were lots of exhibits and art activities. This event was free and open to everyone! The photo shows our KSES art teacher, Angie Salerno, with former student and now Kings Fork art teacher, Sarah Rhodes. They are showing off their Collaborative Monsters joint art project between Art I students and kindergarteners. The Art I students took the kindergarten monster and redrew it with a background and even wrote a story to go with it!
New Murals for Kilby Shores!
This October, Mrs. Salerno spent many extra hours painting all 4 poles in the front of the school with an Ocean Theme to greet the students upon their return to school and repainted the school mailbox. Each pole has different aquatic creatures, as well as different kinds of sharks. Have fun finding them all!
Added in March, the bus ramp poles and 2 back bus ramp doors were painted with the aquatic theme, too!
Welcome to Mrs. Salerno's Virtual Art Room!

How to make Star Books
Star Books are a holiday tradition for Fourth Graders, but this year I am sharing it with the whole school. Instead of origami paper, let's use scraps of WRAPPING PAPER!
Materials: wrapping paper, old cereal box, pencil, scissors, glue stick, 24" of yarn or string and beads are optional.
ENJOY!
