Tech Tools

Seesaw: Getting Started in PreK-2

This session will be geared towards first time users of Seesaw in the PreK-2nd grade setting. Teachers will create an account, learn to navigate Seesaw, add students and families to their accounts, assign activities, monitor student progress, and integrate Seesaw into Canvas.

Beyond the Basics: Exploring the Seesaw Activity Library

Looking for ready to use, already created lessons and activities to help differentiate your instruction, increase student engagement, and provide a multimodal platform for student response? This session will focus on exploring the activity library in Seesaw to find, save and assign activities to use immediately with your students! After exploring the library, we will spend some time in a make and take session for teachers to practice creating their own Seesaw activities to use with students.

Technology Integration: What does it look like?

What does balanced and intentional technology integration look like in the classroom? This interactive professional development will introduce participants to the SAMR model and ask participants to think critically about the technology they use in their classroom.

Tech Showdown

Get ready for the tech showdown! In this session, ITRTs will curate a specific list of instructional technology tools. During the showdown, we will showcase each tool and show examples from the classroom. At the end of the session, participants will be asked to complete a survey where they will choose their favorite tool. They will also identify if they are interested in the ITRTs doing an introductory lesson, with their students, and if they are interested in collaborating on a specific topic using the tool.

Creation and Curation: My Cup of Tea

Don't be late for a very important date! Join us as we steep ourselves in ways we can inspire students to be creators and curators in any content area through the use of various instructional technology tools. Empowering students to collect images, videos, and more using curation tools like Wakelet and inspiring students to create content using resources such as Canva and Flip create dynamic learning experiences. Join us in creating the perfect cup of tea!

Canva is free for teachers and students and is a great resource for creating interesting presentations, projects, and more! In the session, I will share a variety of Canva creative projects that you can do WITH your students in the classroom.

Canvas Studio

Canvas Studio is a media tool that allows students and instructors to upload, create, edit, manage, share and discuss audio and video files.The advantage of Studio lies in its ability to make teaching with video interactive and collaborative. Studio gives you control to pause a video at any point to add a comment(s) or question(s), and students can engage with those comments and questions.

This session will explore Canvas Studio and how it can be used with any grade level and any content area.

Accessibility in Canvas

Is your content accessible for all your students, including those with disabilities? This session will explore basic concepts to start creating accessible course content with alt text, color contrast, meaningful links, and more.

Back to the Future with Canvas

The pandemic school year was unlike any other, and we are getting back to a place that feels familiar. In this session, we will discuss how to effectively use Canvas moving forward.

Trekking the Terrain of Student Learning and Motivation Using Digital Badging

Trekking is a form of activity where one goes from point A to point B in one day, and the next day continues from point B to point C, as is the case with earning badges. Digital Badges have become powerful motivational tools in education. Encourage your students to learn and perform better by recognizing and rewarding their achievements.

Organizing Your Canvas Course

In this live workshop, the presenters will cover the basics of organizing your Canvas course which include course navigation, modules, assignment groups, and other tools to make navigating your course easier for students.

In this live workshop, the presenters will walk teachers through the basics of the Canvas grade book to include gradebook views, gradebook actions, and gradebook settings.

Beginners

In this live workshop, the presenters will cover frequently asked questions related to basic Canvas skills. These skills include organizing the navigation bar, organizing your course, working with Google LTI assignments, copying and duplicating content, using gradebook filters, and using Canvas shortcuts.

Canvas Leveled Up

In this live workshop, the presenters will cover frequently asked questions related to advanced Canvas skills. These skills include adding redirect links, copying and duplicating content, creating student groups, adding external tools, using eMediaVA, and adding various media.

Creating a Canvas Homepage

In this live workshop, teachers will see various examples of Canvas Homepages, and will receive many resources to create their own homepage. The presenters will work with teachers to create their own homepage that includes a welcome image, buttons, and other organizational content. This homepage can be created for use next school year.

Land of MasteryPaths - Personalized Learning with Mastery Paths

In this live workshop, teachers will learn about Canvas MasteryPaths and how to use them to differentiate modules to provide various learning paths for students to work along. This workshop is designed to be a make and take session! The presenters will work with teachers to create their own MasteryPaths that include their premade content built into a module ready to use with students!

GoGuardian Best Practices

In this live workshop, we will walk through how to get started with GoGuardian Teacher as well as best practices for utilizing this tool. Participants will learn how to set scenes, how to turn off Chromebooks, and how to use the GoGuardian communication tools.

Hacks

In this live workshop, the presenters will present various hidden tips and tricks that will make using your Chromebook and the Chrome Browser easier. This session will also include troubleshooting tips and some of our favorite extensions.

Spreadsheet Things

In this live workshop, we will help you navigate The Upside Down of Google Sheets. Presenters will walk participants through tips and tricks to unlock the mysteries of Sheets and to utilize data and group project in the classroom.

We Love

In this live workshop, we will share five interactive sites we love that will work to increase student engagement and collaboration. These sites include MentiMeter, Whiteboard.fi, Blooket, Padlet, and Flipgrid, Teachers will have the opportunity to explore these tools, and create content for their specific classes.

Chopped: Catch of the Day

Open your baskets! In this interactive make and take session you will dive into combining the Harvard Project Zero Thinking Routines with Instructional Technology tools. Become familiar with the thinking routines and develop practical ways that you can use these right away!

Micro-Learning: Create Bite-Sized Learning Experiences

The learning landscape is forever changing as we work to keep our learners engaged in our fast-paced world. In this session, we will share strategies and best practices for incorporating microlearning in your curriculum to create engaging learning paths for students as they learn through short videos, infographics, gifs, and a variety of interactive activities.

Hybrid Learning Best Practices

In this live workshop, we will work with teachers to explore best practices to support successful learning at home and at school. This includes ways to use instructional technology tools to build relationships, to make learning accessible for all, to create opportunities for engagement and collaboration, and to assess student learning.

This live workshop is only intended for small groups. If you would like more training after watching the YouTube Training Video, you can sign up for a small group training where we will cover the basics of the interactive whiteboard and give clarity to any questions you may still have.

In this live workshop, the presenters will share strategies and programs that teachers can use with their interactive whiteboard to increase student engagement and collaboration.

Chromebook Basics

In this live workshop, the presenters will share some "Chromebook Basics" tips and tricks for new users. Topics include customizing your Chromebook, using Google Apps & Drive, setting bookmarks, using the Omnibox, troubleshooting tips, and keyboard shortcuts.
