Grading
Content will be composed of test, projects, quizzes, and homework. These will be based on the four standards of speaking, writing, reading, and listening.
HOWs will be assessed based on preparation for work, engagement with subject, and interaction with peers and teacher.
Throughout the year you will be given work and projects to do at home. The expectation is that the work be completed and handed in on time and reflect your best effort. Homework not turned in on the due date will be marked as late under the HOW category. After one week the homework will not be accepted and will be given a grade of zero. If you are out sick the day the homework is due, you must get it to me as soon as you get back to school. If there are any issues keeping you from completing your homework please let me know. If you miss a quiz because you are sick expect to take it as soon as you return to class. If you miss a test, please contact me right away to schedule a make up.
The final grade will be calculated as follows:
Homework 25%, Quizzes 20%, Tests 25%, Participation 30%
Puntos
A key component to this course (and your final grade) is active and positive participation in class, which will be reflected through the earning of “puntos” for speaking in Spanish. Puntos earned will be recorded on a “punto sheet” given to each student. It is your responsibility to keep this punto sheet safe and have it available for every class. If you do not have your punto sheet with you in class you cannot earn puntos. If your sheet is lost a blank replacement will be provided. Don’t lose your punto sheet!
