Driving through the streets was intense. Honestly, I still don’t fully understand the traffic laws here… It's just completely different than Maine! At one point, there were motorcycles, bison, wild dogs, goats, bicycles, pedestrians, buses, trucks, and cars all moving together—some people hanging out the sides of buses, others riding on top—while our driver expertly weaved in and out of traffic, sometimes on both sides of the road. With speed bumps every now and then that were massively tall. It was wild, chaotic, and definitely an experience I’ll never forget.
When we arrived in Louga, I was so excited to finally meet my host teacher! We went out for lunch at a local spot, and let me just say—yassa chicken for the win! So flavorful and delicious.
We made it to our hotel, where the Wi-Fi is... limited, but the AC works—and honestly, that’s all I need right now. Life is good.
Check out the 360° videos I’ve posted—I hope they give you a real feel for the place and the experience!
