The past three days have been full of school visits and classroom observations, and I continue to be amazed by the students and teachers I’ve met.
The students here are not only intelligent and hardworking—they're also kind, welcoming, and full of optimism. Time and again, I’m reminded that our future truly lies in the hands of today’s youth. And after spending time in Senegal, I can confidently say that the future leaders coming from here are collaborative, thoughtful, and incredibly resourceful.
Some of the schools I’ve visited have more resources than others, but nearly every school I’ve seen works hard to ensure students receive a strong education. The students, in turn, take their learning seriously. When we gave them in-class work, they proudly took it home to finish as homework, determined to do their best.
That same attitude carries into everyday life—you see it in the streets, in conversations, and in small acts of kindness. Everyone I’ve met is showing up as their best self: hopeful, resilient, and kind.
I will never forget this experience, the students I’ve met, or the teachers I’ve learned from. I’m constantly in awe of their warmth and hospitality—and I hope that one day, I can return the favor.
