DRAWING AS A FINE ART

This class covers the fundamentals of observational and subjective drawing in a variety of media. This is an introductory drawing course that is intended to help develop basic observational and perceptual drawing skills as well as increase personal expression through creative investigation. Students will investigate the properties of line, value, shape, texture, and the representation of space, focusing on methods and techniques to represent the illusion of the three-dimensional world on a two-dimensional surface. Upon leaving this class, students will be able to: Use the elements and principles of design to demonstrate multiple solutions to specific visual arts problems and use arts knowledge and vocabulary to critique their own work.

Keys to success:

~Be on time!

~Be kind, use your inside voice and be respectful of your peers and your teacher.

~ Make good use of your class time and seek help when you need it.

~ If you need to use the bathroom, do it between classes or during independent work time.

~Listen, watch and work for the entire class being mindful of other students learning.


GRADING:

The progress of the students will be evaluated on the basis of:

~ 20% class participation and habits of work

~ 80% for projects and written work .


Electronics Policy:

~ Cell phones must be OFF AND PUT AWAY.

~ I-pads will only be used for the tasks and assignments given by the teacher.


All assignments will be posted to the Drawing as a fine art Google Classroom.
