Ms McNally's Class

Back to School Letter to Our Families

Families,

I am so excited to be writing this letter to you and welcoming you (back) to Brown school. I am looking forward to working together this school year. We will spend time initially getting back into our routines, building relationships and focusing on social-emotional skills. We have worked hard all summer to update classroom routines that follow safety guidelines so that students and staff all feel comfortable returning to the classroom 5 days a week.

Ms. McNally's class will now occupy Room 5 and a small side room to accommodate the recommendation of 3 feet of spacing/distancing when feasible. Students will have access to both rooms, but scheduling will be based on individual needs and small group lessons. Individual supplies will be provided. Please plan to packing the following each day:

  • 2 Masks

  • Snack(s)

  • Packed home lunch or the school lunch option in mind

  • Water bottle

  • Please provide an extra outfit (head to toe!) to be kept in your student's locker.

I am really looking forward to seeing you student in person full time! How exciting that our classroom family is back together.

  • 2 new staff members!

    • Although I am so sad to be saying "see you later" to Miss Chandra and Miss J, I am excited for Mrs. H and Ms. B to join our team! Mrs. H joins us from us from within the Brown School community and Ms. B is looking forward to her new role, sa she also works to complete her Masters at USM.

  • Return to our original home/school notebook procedures (look for you student's binder in their backpack each day).

  • The ability to have mask breaks white playing outside and on the playground (masks are currently not required while kids play and learn outside).

  • The ability to work and learn in the regular education classroom! Students are able to have access to both a regular education setting, as well as a special education setting daily.

    • If you received a welcome letter from another teacher. Feel free to attend Back to School Nights in both settings.

Things that looks the same in our classroom this year:

  • Virtual Connections: IEP meetings and students staffing as needed.

  • Loving staff: Mrs. Hanson, Miss Kim, Ms. Ratliff, Mrs. Phillips, Miss Kim OT, and Miss Dina are all returning to our classroom!

  • Y.E.S. students: focusing on functional and social skills while maintaining and learning academic skills at your student's level.

  • Communication: reach out anytime with questions or concerns (related to IEP, daily schedule, classroom routine, Covid safety, or any topic you're looking for more guidance on) - mcnallha@spsdme.org.

Thank you for your continued support of your student in these unique learning times! I am looking forward to this new school year!
