Things to know before coming to school...
1st Day of School is Tuesday, September 5th!
Here are some things that your child should PRACTICE before school starts:
Good handwashing for 20 seconds. Hum the “ABC’s” or “Happy Birthday”.
Good hygiene (nose blowing, bathroom)
Independent dressing. This includes shoes. If your child doesn’t know how to tie shoe laces, please consider shoes with velcro or slip-on shoes.
Opening lunch containers and water bottles.
CLASSROOM INFORMATION
Your child should wear sneakers for P.E.
Library books go home once a week. Your child will need to return those books the following week in order to take home new ones.
Feel free to send your child with a labeled water bottle each day.
About Mrs. O'Coin
I'm Julie O'Coin. I LOVE teaching 1st graders! I graduated from the University of Maine in 2007 and began my career teaching preschool. I later went back to school to get my elementary teaching certification, and in 2010, I got a job teaching Kindergarten. While I was teaching Kindergarten, I received a Masters in Teaching and Learning. In 2016 I came to Skillin School. I taught Kindergarten for a year, then looped to First Grade where I've been ever since.
My husband and I have a 8 year old daughter and a 5 year old son. I love going to the beach, going on the family boat, reading, and doing yoga. My favorite color is blue, my favorite food is macaroni and cheese, and my favorite part of teaching First Grade is helping the students become readers!
