Hi! I'm Chris Downey. I'm originally from the South but have lived in Maine for the past 13 years. I love to read, work on puzzles, walk/run, drink a ton of coffee, and learn all I can about good teaching. Until 2017, I worked in educational publishing. I made the switch to teaching after my daughter began school and I discovered how much I love helping young people with their learning. I completed my master's in teaching and learning at USM, during which time I was a student teacher at Skillin. I taught fifth-grade here the last two years and am so thrilled to continue doing so. This is my VERY FAVORITE grade!

When I'm not at school, I can be found spending time with my husband, my daughter, and our three senior pets. We live in Portland.
