The orchestra rehearses on Thursday evenings during the academic year from 7:00pm-9:30pm with a 15-minute break.

There are several types of membership in the SPSCC Symphony Orchestra:

Tuition-paying SPSCC students who are earning credits for the music transfer degree, general transfer degree, or one of the professional technical degrees
Credit-seeking Running Start students who are earning both high school and college credits
Community members who register for non-credit through SPSCC's Corporate and Continuing Education program
Professional musicians (with music degrees at Bachelor's level or higher) who serve as volunteers per the Volunteer Agreement
Paid string section principals who lead sectionals and take on other responsibilities as requested by the conductor.
New members are admitted BY AUDITION at the beginning of each academic quarter. Audition requirements are:
