Classroom Routines & Grading Expectations:

• Math grades will come from topic quizzes, module assessments, exit tickets, and ZEARN lessons (further notes on this below).

• In Math, students should complete any assigned ZEARN lessons. They will be assigned as needed throughout the module. Students MUST complete both the digital lesson AND workbook companion pages to receive credit.

• Social Studies grades will come from primary source analyses, graphic organizers, chapter assessments, vocabulary practices, and performance tasks (further notes on this below).

• In Social Studies, students should practice note-taking throughout the chapters. These notes will be critical as they complete their writing and performance tasks at the end of the chapters and units.

"Hot Tickets" Reward System

In our class, students can earn "hot tickets" that can be used to purchase items at the end of the nine weeks in an auction-style market.

Students earn tickets by:

• showing independence

• showing maturity

• showing citizenship

• exceeding classroom expectations

• meeting personalized goals

Items available for purchase include:

• snacks (no nuts)

• drinks

• fidgets & squishies

• trinkets

• and much more!

If you would like to donate to our prizes, please feel free. You can send items with your student or drop them off at the school.

Enrichment Focus:

Students will rotate through three enrichment teachers throughout the school year. In my class, we will be doing Louisiana History. Students will read the novel My Louisiana Sky, study state symbols, and create collages that depict the rich history of Louisiana. Time permitting, we will also study agriculture in Louisiana and the Angola State Penitentiary.
