The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
Boyd Elementary is a collaborative community developing internationally-minded learners who form real world connections and inspire action toward peace.
The mission of Field Elementary school is to develop creative, balanced inquirers who share a love of learning, a commitment to global responsibility, respect for others, and a desire to take positive action in the world.
Our Rountree community inspires compassionate, respectful, and creative lifelong learners that take action to build a better world.
Boyd Elementary has a long and proud history that reaches back to the earliest days of public education in Springfield, Missouri. Boyd Elementary began as one of the first public schools in 1908. The old building was constructed in 1911, and has recently been replaced by a state of the art brand new school which opened in 2021. The new facility offers an Early Childhood program with 5 Wonder Years classrooms. Boyd Elementary is a neighborhood school pulling from an attendance area of about one square mile. The active and diverse neighborhood works closely with the school to create a caring community for all the students. Boyd Elementary also has a close partnership with nearby Drury University. Boyd Elementary is considered a Springfield Public Schools ‘Choice School’ for open enrollment. Boyd became an authorized Primary Years Programme World School in 2009.
Field Elementary is a neighborhood school built in 1959. The heart of the neighborhood immediately surrounding the school (Brentwood) contains homes built in the 1950’s and 1960’s. The attendance area encompasses a broad area up to 7 miles, featuring many new subdivisions. Field has doubled in enrolment since the implementation of the Primary Years Programme in 2005. Ninety-three percent of families surveyed stated they reside within the Field boundaries to ensure their child attends the school. Field became an authorized Primary Years Programme World School in 2009. Even though it is a district choice program, due to expanding class sizes, transfer requests are limited.
Rountree Elementary School is deeply rooted in the educational history of Springfield, MO. The school was named after N. M. Rountree, a businessman who served on the Springfield school board from 1884 to 1891. Rountree School was built in 1917 and in 1935, Rountree Elementary housed Springfield's very first kindergarten classroom. The school is nestled in the heart of the historic Rountree neighborhood and is located just east of Missouri State University. Rountree became an authorized International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme World School in 2013.
