The IB Career-related Program at Central is a great option for students in 11th and 12th grades who:
are interested in career-related education and want to develop skills and knowledge relevant to their chosen field
want to focus on career-related learning while gaining transferable skills and knowledge
desire to combine academic rigor with practical, hands-on learning in a specific field
want to be prepared for further education, apprenticeships, or direct employment after graduation
CP students achieve the IB CP Certificate over the course of their junior (11th grade) and senior (12th grade) years by completing the following requirements:
Career-Related Pathway:
Students choose a career-related study area, such as web design, entrepreneurship, or digital media.
They complete a sequence of courses within their chosen pathway.

Personal & Professional Skills (PPS)
The Professional and Professional Skills (PPS) course helps students grow personally and as global citizens, preparing them for college, careers, or further training. It builds key skills like self-awareness, ethical thinking, and intercultural understanding—skills that apply across many areas of life. PPS also strengthens and connects learning from other parts of the CP program.
The Reflective Project is a student-driven exploration of an ethical dilemma in a career field, developed over time. It showcases the skills and experiences gained throughout the Career-related Program. Students can choose from various formats—written, verbal, visual, or multimedia—and it encourages them to think like future professionals.
Community Engagement allows students to learn with and from communities while applying their skills in real-world settings. It helps them build meaningful relationships, appreciate diverse perspectives, and develop compassion, ethics, and global citizenship.
Language and Cultural Studies helps students deepen their understanding of language, culture, and identity. It encourages inquiry, supports personal and professional goal-setting, and expands their ability to engage with diverse communities.
To obtain the IB Career-related Certificate, students must:
Complete at least 2 DP courses in the 6 subject areas, one of which must be a 2 year DP course.
Take the Personal & Professional Skills course:
PPS is a two year course that does not count towards the required DP courses
Take 2 Career-related courses in their selected pathway:
minimum of one course in 11th grade, minimum of one course in 12th grade
