Discussion Questions:
What is different about online information as opposed to offline information?
Who can use information that you put in a public space online? What can they use it for?
When and how do we lock information in the offline world? Why do we do that?
Is it different in the online world?
What type of locks do you need for your information? Where do you store it? What could happen if it fell into the wrong hands?
How would you feel if someone had your password and could change your personal information / photos?
What can you do to gain control back of your site if someone misuses it?
People say you should log out of your account when you’re not using it - why?
Do you need to protect all your information the same way?
Activity Ideas:
Draw a large outline of a person and write the types of information that is best to keep to yourself inside your body and types of information that could be shared online outside your body e.g. nickname, wider location (NZ), birth month. For activity template, scroll to the bottom of this page.
Draw a cartoon strip involving finding someone’s tablet, with accounts still open, and using the account. What happens next?
