All employees, full-time and part-time, are allotted unpaid time off in the calendar year. If an employee starts mid year, the amount of time off is prorated. In addition, Sprout observes and takes off 9 unpaid total holidays.
To provide work-life balance and enable employees to feel more comfortable in using their time off allotments, Sprout provides floating paid hours (FPH) for all full-time employees. Floating paid hours are not additional days off. Floating paid hours act as a coupon that may be applied towards unpaid days, making them paid. FPH can be applied towards any of the following:
Vacation Days
Observed Company Holidays
New Year's Day
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Pioneer Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Friday after Thanksgiving
Christmas Eve
Christmas
Sick or Personal Days (Last minute sick and personal days will still follow attendance policy and point system)
Other Leaves
Please see the holidays and time off tables below for hourly Full Time and Part Time employees.
*It is important to note that all time off requests and observed company holidays will default as unpaid time off, and all FPH will be UNUSED unless specified within a time off request.
In order to use your FPH towards personal and vacation days, employees must specify the amount of accumulated FPH that they would like to apply towards a regular, typically unpaid, time off request. Please see the example below:
In the example above, the total amount of time off being requested is 16 hours. 8 Hours will be unpaid, and 8 hours will be Paid.
In order to use your FPH towards an observed company holiday, employees must select the date of the holiday in a regular time off request, specify the total requested hours as 0, and specify the amount of accumulated FPH as 8. This will use up 8 hours of FPH and ensure a paid day on a typically unpaid company holiday.
If an employee wishes to apply their FPH to a last minute or unplanned day the same rule applies and a time off request must be submitted with the selected FPH within 60 minutes of notifying his/her direct Supervisor. FPH may not be used for NCNS. (please see NCNS policy)
Employees are only able to use the amount of FPH that they have accrued. Employees may rollover unpaid days, or floating paid hours, to the next calendar year if they are unused by the last day of the first pay period of the new year. The max annual rollover amount is 40 hours.
Full-time employees accrue FPH by pay period at the rates shown below.
