The Sprout attendance policy applies to all workers, regardless of rank or status.
Sprout provides full and part time employees with two kinds of breaks to ensure employees are able to remain productive at work.
Rest breaks are to be no longer than 10 minutes. Employees are not required to take a break, but it is highly encouraged to ensure health and well-being are being maintained. Rest breaks are on the clock, meaning you DO NOT clock-out for a rest break. Employees are to remain in the building or on the property during their rest break. Employees that choose to leave the property for a rest break are required to clock out. In addition, employees must allow ample time to return within the 10 minute rest break period. It is recommended employees use the break room rather than remain in the work area, so as not to cause a distraction to other workers not on break.
Scheduled breaks are offered two times a day for full time employees who work 6 hours or more daily.
Scheduled breaks are offered only once a day for part time employees who work 5 hours or less daily.
Breaks are a privilege, not a requirement. If breaks are abused, they will be taken away. *If you do not take your break at the scheduled time that your supervisor has set, then you lose it. Employees may be asked to end rest breaks early at any time as well as have rest breaks removed.
Lunch breaks work similarly to rest breaks except that they are 1) longer than rest breaks, and 2) the amount of time that you’re on a lunch break is not paid time. You must clock out and/or record your lunch break as unpaid hours on your timesheet. You are encouraged to use the break area but you are allowed to leave company property for lunch breaks. Although lunch breaks are not required, if an employee does take a lunch break, it is required to take the full 30 minutes.
Scheduled lunch breaks are provided to employees who work 6 or more hours a day.
Part time employees or those who work 5 hours a day or less, do not get a lunch break.
Employees who are on unpaid lunch breaks are released from all work duties, and are prohibited from performing any work while on their lunch break.
