Reading is extremely important. One of the goals I always have for my students is that daily reading becomes a routine for students. This year we will be reading multiple books together as a class but students should always be reading a book of their choice as well.
To help with getting books into your home I have created an account at Scholastic. Not only are there great books for you and your family, but all orders give points towards new books in our classroom. Freckle is another site students are familiar with in which they can get lessons and practice in both literacy and math concepts.
Epic! Books is a place where students can access books online. Sign-on from 7:00am-4:00pm M-F and it is free or you can subscribe for more reading fun.
This is NOT required, but a great resource for students to get access to great books and audio books at their level.
