Class Dojo
I will be using this free app to give updates and reminders about school and classroom happenings. You can message me through dojo during school hours and I will get back to you asap. Please DO NOT message with dismissal changes or emergencies. Call the office!
Email/Phone
You can also email or call me at school and I will reply or return your call within 24 hours.
Notes
For non-urgent questions/comments you can send a note in your child's orange take home folder.
Bathroom Breaks, Hand washing and Sanitizing
We will wash or sanitize our hands at arrival, before and after leaving the room and as necessary throughout the day.
Bathroom breaks will be given as needed throughout the day NOT during instructional times. We only have 1 bathroom in our classroom and 1 sink.
We will sanitize our hands as needed. I will also be sanitizing any surfaces that are shared throughout the day. We will do our best to use our own materials and supplies.
BIRTHDAYS
Birthdays are a special time in every First Graders life. We will celebrate by singing to the birthday child (if they choose) and doing a special Go Noodle dance break. If you wish, you may send in a birthday treat for your student to pass out. Stickers, erasers, pencils or a small trinket are always enjoyed. Summer Birthdays will be celebrated in May/June!
Class Behavior Plan
I have developed a classroom discipline plan that affords every student guidance in making good decisions about his or her behavior and thus an opportunity to learn in a positive, nurturing environment. Your child deserves the most effective educational climate possible for his or her growth, and I know that together we can make a difference in this process.
Class Dojo is a great tool to encourage students to work together. Students can earn points as a class, group or individual.
Students will have the opportunity to earn dojo points (+1) for making good choices. When students receive a certain number of points they will be able to cash them in for prizes (tangible prizes or extra privileges in the classroom).
If a student or group requires multiple reminders about the classroom rules, they will owe a “reminder minute” (-1). They will have to sit out for one minute during recess. Additional reminders will be additional minutes. We will discuss what they can do in the future to make better choices. These points will be reset at the end of everyday giving students a chance to start fresh each morning!
Water Bottles and Snack
Students are highly encouraged to bring a water bottle and a snack each day. Please make sure water bottles close securely and will not leak/spill in backpack.
Snacks should be:
Easy to eat-NO UTENSILS NEEDED.
Healthy - NO candy bars, desserts, etc.
Our snack will be in the morning. However, if time allows students may also finish their snack at the end of the day if time allows.
Homework
Students will receive a homework packet each week.
They should complete all sections and return to school on Fridays..
