Tips for Success

Some tips to help your student succeed:

  • Monitor attendance. We cover a lot of important information in class, and many lessons build on the lesson from the day before, so attending class is critical to maximizing student success.
  • Encourage your child to read daily, and discuss books they are interested in. Reading exposes students to vocabulary words, plot structures, sentence structure, grammar, and more. Students who are good readers tend to be more successful in school because reading is integrated into all subject areas. Not to mention, it's fun!
  • Ask your child about school and take an interest in what he or she is learning about.
  • Be sure that your child is getting an adequate amount of sleep at night.
  • Provide a quiet time and place for homework to minimize distractions.

Staying after school or coming to AIS during 12th period for extra help is always a great way to work with AIS teachers on ELA homework or studying for tests and quizzes :)
