purpose
As a New York State mandate for all students in grades 6-8, the Family and Consumer Sciences curriculum combines academic learning with real-life application preparing individuals for family life and work life in a diverse global society.

The Springs School Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) program is intended to empower students to make sound decisions for creating a meaningful life through guidance and active exploration in a safe and supportive space.

Curriculum:
Grade 6: Students in grade 6 will meet weekly for two semesters. Units of study include Apparel and Textile Production and Design, and Nutrition and Wellness.
Grade 7: Students in grade 7 will meet every other day for one semester. Units of study include Foods Systems and Production, and Environmental Design and Management.
Grade 8: Students in grade 8 will meet every other day for one semester. Units of study include Civics, Growth and Life Readiness, and Human Development and Relationships.
