Nomination Guidelines
The Spring Lake High School Athletic Hall of Fame Selection Committee has established the criteria and qualifications for induction into the Hall of Fame as follows:
To be eligible for nomination, selection, and induction into the Hall of Fame, an individual must be or have been:
An athlete on a SLHS team
A coach or assistant coach or coordinator for a SLHS Athletic team
A SLHS athletic team
An individual or group that was a community volunteer for SLHS Athletics
To be inducted, and Athlete must have:
Graduated from SLHS
Earned a letter in the sport for which he or she is being inducted
Demonstrated great talent in that sport while at SLHS, as may be assessed through such things as national accolades, state accolades, championships earned, statistics, scholarships, collegiate performance, and school, conference, state, or national records
To be inducted as a Coach, Assistant Coach, an individual must have:
Coached a sport or sports at SLHS for a minimum of 10 years
Ceased to be a Coach at least 5 years prior to induction
Demonstrated an unusually high level of success in the sport or sports for which he or she coached as may be assessed through win record, championships, success at regional, state, or national levels of competition, and the regard given her or him by athletes, students, parents, and the community
To be inducted, a SLHS team must have:
Demonstrated outstanding achievement in its sport
The team did so at least 5 years prior to induction
Outstanding achievement may be assessed through such things as win record, championships, overcoming hardships, and academics
To be inducted, a Community Volunteer to SLHS Athletics must have:
Been employed or volunteered for SLHS Athletic Department and made significant contributions to the Athletic Department
Graduated from SLHS, was a student athlete, and has made significant contributions to society
Represented SLHS positively in the time since she or he was either an employee, student, or volunteer
The time requirements for induction are waived in the event the nominee is deceased but otherwise qualified.
