Classroom Expectations

At Major ES, we utilize CHAMPS. This system lets our students know exactly what is expected during any activity, any time of the day. It is a mnemonic that is commonly used in the school setting.

C stands for Conversation Level, this ranges from 0-3 and in some cases 4. Level 0, is silent, absolutely no talking. Level 1, is a whisper tone. Level 2, is a speaking tone (inside voice). Level 3, is slightly elevated. Level 4 is most commonly used on the playground.

H stands for Help. Students can ask three students before asking the teacher, rethink about the directions the teacher stated, or raise their hand and ask the teacher for assistance.

A stands for Activity. Students may work independently, small group, or with a partner.

M stands for Movement. Students could stay seated, work with a partner, or rotate around the room.

P stands for Participation. Students are active listeners, raise hands to answer questions,

S stands for Success. The goal is for every student to be successful in the learning.
