To be recognized as a Dedicated Service Graduate (DSG), one must submit at least 120 total hours of community service by April 1 of their senior year. These hours are accumulated throughout their high school career. Of those 120 hours, at least 40 hours must be within Spring ISD. Seniors who complete these requirements will receive a silver honor cord to wear with their gowns at graduation.
Hours earned during the summer are submitted the following school year by April 1. This is a hard deadline. Forms are not accepted late.
The DSG honor will be awarded to students for their completion of 120 hours of unpaid service throughout their four years of high school. Those hours must be earned as follows:
A minimum of 40 of the 120 hours must be completed in service at a Spring ISD after-school event or activity. All 120 hours could also be earned in service at a Spring ISD after-school hours event or activity.
Up to 80 of the required 120 hours can be earned in volunteer service in the community.
Students are encouraged to earn hours that exceed the minimum requirement.
