I’m Gabriela Lopez, one of the school counselors at Beneke. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling, along with 30 additional doctoral-level credits in Educational Counseling and Clinical Psychology. For 25 years, I have supported students and families in their emotional well-being, resilience, and personal growth. My approach is holistic and grounded in metacognition, social-emotional learning, and the belief that every child has unique strengths and potential. I enjoy helping students navigate challenges, develop healthy coping skills, build confidence, and recognize their possibilities. I’m passionate about creating a safe, supportive environment where every student feels heard, valued, and empowered to grow. I’m proud to serve the Beneke Elementary Bears!

My name is Melissa Mitchell and I am one of the school counselors at Beneke Elementary. I received my Bachelors degree of Science in Academic Studies and Masters Degree in School Counseling from Sam Houston State University. I've been in education for 22 years and a school counselor for 17 years. It’s my belief that a student's social-emotional well being impacts how they learn and progress academically. I want to help your students exceed their potential by supporting their social-emotional learning, form meaningful relationships with their teachers and peers, develop and use coping skills. I am proud to support our Beneke Bears!
