1-1 Device Programme

Springfield is introducing a 1-1 Device programme in Grade 8 in 2023. The chosen device is a Lenovo 300E Chromebook, the cost of which will be approximately R7800.00 depending on the dollar-rand exchange rate.

While we strongly recommend that all 2023 Grade 8 families buy into this programme, a hybrid model is in place for parents who have recently purchased devices for their children. While we are not supportive of the purchase of a new device of choice, pupils with existing devices may use these until the time comes for their device to be replaced. The use of existing devices may require additional school-enabled controls to ensure compliance in the device’s interactions with the school network and the relevant privacy and security protocols. Hardware and software support at school for existing devices may be more limited and there will be no access to the benefits of the on-site support that is implicit in the warranty agreement that has been negotiated for the Chromebooks.

Parents who wish to order a device at this stage need to email Marcielle van Jaarsveld at iTech Solutions directly at sfcorders@itechsolutions.co.za. Marcielle will take up the process from there. Device delivery is dependent upon full payment in the form of a single payment to the supplier upon invoicing. After placing an order, the parent or guardian who has placed the order will be liable for the cost of the device.
