Feast of St Thomas Aquinas - Dominique Ducray
Thomas Aquinas was an Italian Dominican friar during the 1200s. He was a renowned scholar, and laid the foundation for much of Christian theology. He has been described as the most influential thinker of the medieval period. He is patron saint of academics, Catholic schools, pencil makers, learning, students, philosophers, scholars, and many other things. He is a Doctor of the Church, meaning that he is recognised as having made a significant contribution to Catholic doctrine.
His feast day is celebrated on 28 Jan each year, and Thomas house is named for him. Some quotes from Aquinas:

Dr Marcus Melck - Toad Catching at Springfield!
As many of you may be aware, the use of the iNaturalist app helped us to identify the presence of Guttural Toads on Springfield property. The toads are invasive to the Western Cape and threaten the endangered Western Leopard Toads that are endemic to the region. As a result, the City of Cape Town launched a toad capture campaign a few years ago using NCC Environmental services to remove as many of the toads as possible.
Last December saw the first toad capture operation taking place at Springfield with the NCC crew catching 35 toads in less than an hour (the capture took place between 20h30 - 21:45), a significant number! Each toad had its exact time of capture recorded, along with it's length, before they were taken away to the NCC premises where they were chemically euthanised. These specimens are then provided to various universities for further research.
Keep an eye out for future toad capture operations in case you'd like to try your hand at toad catching!
