Worried about how to use Zoom?
Follow the five easy steps listed here to learn how to log in successfully!
As a member of this group, each Wednesday you will get an email from Kathy with the link for Thursday's online meeting. Whether you're using a computer, a tablet, or a phone, Zoom works pretty much the same way.
When it's time for the meeting, open your email from Kathy and then click on the blue highlighted link, as shown in the picture on the right.
Depending on whether you've used Zoom before or not, you might get the message, "Do you want to allow this page to open zoom.us?" If you do, click on "Allow". If you don't see that box, don't worry.
You will need to connect to your computer audio in order to hear the group. When the box shown on the right appears, click on the blue "Join with Computer Audio" button.
Congratulations! You're on Zoom! Now look at the controls on the bottom left side of your screen. Click on "Start Video" so we can see you, and click on "Unmute" so we can hear you.
In the upper right corner of your screen is a view button, as shown in the picture here. Click on it so it expands to show your choices, as shown below.
Select Fullscreen so your Zoom view gets big and fills your screen. Then choose whether you want to see only the person who is speaking (speaker view), or many faces at once (gallery view). Most people prefer gallery so you can see everyone who's in the meeting. Depending on the size of your screen, you might see everyone, or you might need to swipe or click to a second page to see more faces.
Now that you've read the five steps, it might seem a little complicated, but you'll get used to it pretty quickly if you follow step by step. It's okay if you need someone to walk you through the steps the first few times. If you want Kathy to guide you, make an appointment with her for a time when the group isn't meeting, and we can chat on the phone while you try it out on your device.
