This is an incomplete but growing list of resources you may want to read as you try to learn more about your own recovery and the stories and recoveries of other people with stroke. I've included books and links to websites and videos that you may find interesting. Please let me know of resources you would like to share with other group members and I will add them to this page.
The term "reading" is used loosely here, because there are a number of ways to listen to or view the resources listed here. For example, Audible and Kindle are great ways to have books read to you by your computer or tablet. Also, see the CWMARS library access description on the Western Mass Resources page.
Excellent, authoritative websites on stroke:

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: https://www.cdc.gov/stroke/
Mayo Clinic on stroke recovery: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/stroke/in-depth/stroke-rehabilitation/art-20045172
National Aphasia Association: https://www.aphasia.org/
National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Stroke: https://www.ninds.nih.gov/, and specific to post-stroke rehabilitation: https://www.ninds.nih.gov/health-information/patient-caregiver-education/fact-sheets/post-stroke-rehabilitation-fact-sheet
Stroke Survivors Empowering Each Other (SSEEO): https://sseeo.org/
U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs: https://www.cidrr8.research.va.gov/rescue/index.cfm
Another great resource is Valley Eye Radio, which is a 24/7 accessible source of local news that otherwise isn't available to people with vision or reading impairments. You can listen to live and recorded readings of local and regional newspapers and podcasts online, on cable TV, your phone, or smart speaker. Check their website at https://valleyeyeradio.org/ for more information on how to access their programming.
