Tryouts

August 1st- 9:00-11:30 & 1-3 August 2nd- 9:00-11:30 & 1-3

You MUST have an updated physical to tryout!!

All scheduled tryouts, practices, scrimmages, etc. for August are mandatory for all players. There is no excuse for missing any of these events. The importance of intense training in this month is crucial to a great and successful season. Seniors…DO NOT schedule appointments for senior pictures or college visits during any practices or scrimmages. There is plenty of time for all of you to fit these things into your summer without conflicting with these few mandatory dates.

  • Tryouts- You must be at ALL tryout times to be considered for a team. If you miss any part of a session or a full session you will not be a part of the Springfield Volleyball program. No exceptions unless it is for injury purposes or family emergencies.
  • Physicals must be updated before the first day of tryouts. Anyone with an expired physical will not be allowed to tryout. There will be no exceptions to this rule. This is a school rule and it is for your protection as well as mine in case of an injury. DO NOT wait until the last minute to take care of this. You have all summer to get this done! Forms can be picked up in the Athletic office.
  • Physical Testing: Attached is the physical testing that will be conducted during the first session of tryouts. In order to play varsity (not make the team), you must be at zero or negative points. You can redo any particular test as many times as you would like.

Wednesday, 8/1- 9:00-11:30

The first session of the tryouts on Wednesday, 8/1 will consist of physical testing. For each test you will be rewarded points bases upon your performance. Your goal is to hit the required measurement. If you are below the goal, you will have negative points. If you are above the goal you will be given positive points.

The ultimate goal is to be at ZERO or in the negatives. You can retest as many times as you would like. In order to play on the varsity court you MUST be at zero or in the negatives. (You can be in the positives and still make varsity.)

Make sure you eat something in the morning and drink plenty of water.
