Hi, I'm Anthony Kimmons and I teach visual arts in the uppper school at Westchester Academy for International Studies.
I graduated with a B.A. from the University of St. Thomas in 1982 with a focus on studio art and art history. After several years, and after a few years of working all sorts of jobs, I chose to attend night courses at Houston Community College, taking commercial art and design courses on the Apple computer which immediately enabled me to start a job as a web producer/designer even before I had completed the program. In the late 1980s and early 1990s the internet was just starting to expand into what it is today and there were a lot of jobs and new careers to be made.
After a ten year career as a graphic designer and web site designer/producer, I chose to start a new career teaching high school visual art in 2001. I was fortunate enough to get hired at WAIS as the first upper school visual art teacher. This was just a year after WAIS first opened. This year, 2023-2024, will mark my 23st year at Westchester Academy. It's a great place to be!

I’ve had the pleasure of teaching Art for 21 years. I enjoy working with children and teaching them different ways to express themselves through Art. Throug
