Multicultural Festival - 5 steps to host a country

HOSTING a country or culture at the Multicultural Festival is a great way to help our students create and build an atmosphere of acceptance and belonging where every student's unique culture is appreciated.

The Multicultural Festival is middle school an excellent way to teach SFMS students to be curious and inquisitive about countries and cultures different from their own. It provides an opportunity to explore and celebrate the diversity of our community and the myriad of cultures, beliefs, and traditions that make up the fabric of our society.

STEP 1: DECIDE what country/culture you would like to represent.

Reach out to family or friends to help you host.

At the Multicultural Festival, students can interact with people from different cultures and gain a better understanding of their beliefs and experiences. This can help create a sense of belonging for students and ensure a more unified community.

Everyone helping you at your table must be registered as a SFMS volunteer

STEP 5: PLAN YOUR COUNTRY/STUDENT EXPERIENCE

Ideas:

Connect up with other parents who want to host the same country.
Include an activity at your table. Students love a game to play or something to do at your table.
Students love bite size samples of a country's traditional or exotic dishes.
Challenge them to learn more about your country

Not only will you have the opportunity to teach about different cultures and meet new people, you will also get the chance to take part in the festivities, sample delicious food, see exciting performances, and interactive activities.

We recommend including an activity at your country table. Through hands-on activities like music, games, dance, art, and food, students can gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the diversity of cultures around the world. They can also learn about the historical and current contributions of various cultures and the cultural values of each.
