Hi, and welcome to Fifth Grade! I am so excited for this year! I grew up in the Dayton area and I attended Chaminade-Julienne Catholic High School. In 2004, I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Dayton, and in 2007, I received my Master’s in Middle Childhood Education, also from UD. A few years later I went back to school, eventually earning a Master’s in Educational Leadership in 2012 from Wright State University. I am certified to teach grades 4-9, with a concentration in Social Studies and Reading/Language Arts. This is my fourteenth year of teaching, and each year has been here at Five Points Elementary in 5th grade. This year I am very excited to be teaching Social Studies and Reading/Language Arts to both Jung and Cane homerooms.
I live here in Springboro and I am married to my husband and best friend, J.P. My husband is a police officer in Kettering. We have two sons, J.J. (John Jr.) and Louie. Our oldest son, J.J., is an energetic, creative, and Lego-loving five-year old. This year J.J. is in Kindergarten at Clearcreek Elementary. My younger son, Louie, turned three in July, and he is in preschool this year! Louie is sweet and loving and he loves to pretend play. He keeps himself busy following his older brother around, copying his every move! lol!
I am SO excited for this school year! I am really looking forward to getting to know each of you, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work, learn, and grow with your children over the next several months. I know that it will be a great year filled with lots of learning, fun, and excitement!
Welcome to fifth grade! I am currently in my ninth year as a Gifted Intervention Specialist at Five Points. As a GIS, I have taught reading and math from 3rd-5th grade. However, I currently have two sections of fifth grade reading with Mrs. Jung and two sections of 4/5 compacted math. I am also the consult GIS for second grade at Five Points. Prior to working as a GIS, I taught kindergarten at Clearcreek for five years. I graduated in 2005 from Miami University with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. I then received my Gifted Endorsement and Master’s degree in education from Wright State. My husband, Dave, shares my passion for education, working as the principal at Carlisle High School.
We live in Springboro and I am so happy to have my daughter, Celia, here with me as a fellow Panther. Celia is currently in fourth grade here at Five Points. Our son, Cole, just turned six over the summer. He is a bug and dino loving kindergartener who keeps us laughing. We also share our home with our two dogs, Izzy and Marley, and a rescue fish named Stripes. I love to spend time with my family, practice yoga, read, and spend time outdoors.
I am looking forward to getting to know your children as readers, as I worked with almost all of them in math last school year! Thank you for sharing your child with us! It’s going to be an awesome year!
