Join our highly recommended course on water vole ecology, mitigation and live-capture techniques, aimed at professionals wanting to increase their skills in this area.
The content of the course includes:
Ecology and field signs, beginning from basics and including easily-confused signs from field vole and rat and how to confidently distinguish these.
Scientific background summarising research conducted on water vole ecology to cover habitat requirements, health and welfare implications, and considerations for maintaining water voles in captivity.
Legislation.
Mitigation, working through a series of case-studies and discussing potential solutions. This will include considerations for re-establishing water voles.
Field session (day 1), to identify field signs, discuss different trap types and options, and set traps.
Field session (day 2), to check traps, process animals and collect traps.
